Tony’s Top 5 Games of 2012 So Far

TMKTop5

What are my top five games of 2012 so far? Find out below.

There are already many games to choose from, but these are the five that I enjoyed the most.

5.  Max Payne 3

Max Payne 3 is fresh enough, yet still has most of the things that made the original Max Payne’s great. The bullet time is still a blast and Max is still a messed up individual. The story was well done and always kept me entertained. I didn’t spend a ton of time with the multiplayer, but what I played of it was pretty good.  I look forward to what Rockstar does next with Max Payne.

4. MotorStorm: RC

I had little interest for this game, but was I ever happy when I finally played it.  I didn’t know if going RC was the best decision for MotorStorm, but it worked. The vehicle types, skins, tracks, and everything else that you would want from MotorStorm is there. I wish there was a full on multiplayer, but thankfully they have leaderboard challenges, so you’ll always be busy trying to best your friends times.

3. Touch My Katamari

It’s Katamari and I’m fine with that.  Besides a few touch controls with the Vita, you’ll know what you’re getting into. If you’ve never played a Katamari title before, I highly recommend you give this one a try.

2. Closure

The light will lead me through the darkness, but I must get to the key first. Closure is an incredibly unique puzzle-platformer based around a light and dark mechanic. Closure is easily one of the best puzzle-platformers that I’ve played in recent memory. I won’t waste much time here, but you can read my review here.

1. Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!!!

Mutant Blobs Attack!!! is without a doubt my favorite Vita game.  The art style is enough to make me love it, but there is much more than just an art style that makes Mutant Blobs Attack!!! a great game. You play as a blob that escapes from a laboratory with one objective: destroy the earth.  The blob will absorb objects and people in the environment to make itself larger. I won’t spoil anything, so I’ll just leave it at that for now. I don’t find myself busting out laughing at many games, but Mutant Blobs Attack!!! succeeded in doing just that. There are leaderboards and collectibles to chase after, so you could find yourself playing for many hours.

With so many more great games coming out, I’ll be curious to see if any of my current top five make it on the final list.
